PPT machine vision inspection systems are installed throughout the world on hundreds of high-speed stamping presses such as Bruderer presses AG. Performing 100% inspection of stamped parts is the only way to ensure 100% outgoing quality. Data for SPC can still be gathered but this is no substitute for 100% inspection. Periodic checking will find the broken punch (after 1-2 hours lost production!) but is unlikely to detect random or intermittent manufacturing errors e.g. slug damage.

The combination of PPT machine vision systems and Bruderer stamping presses makes a world beater for quality in production.

For inspecting products on strip or bandolier, Simac developed the Stampede, which is a stand-alone inspection system that can be moved between the presses. High speed stamping presses are used in the manufacture of electronic and electrical connectors, lead frames, parts for medical, automotive and computer manufacturers. Machine vision has been use extensively in these industries where quality is critical.

The Stampede is a complete and compact machine vision inspection system, designed for the precision strip stamping industry. It will typically be positioned between the press and the strip reeler. It is equipped with a standard, easily adaptable and adjustable program and HMI for 100% measurement of all critical dimensions and inspection of shapes. No programming required.

The Stampede is supplied with high performance PPT Vision Impact C- or T-series machine vision systems, which can be equipped with a broad range of digital cameras.
For the HMI, data storage and communication a shuttle PC with LCD monitor are included.

The camera type, optics, fixtures, strobe lights, strip guide and strip drive are product specific to meet the inspection demands. Exchange of the product specific tooling is easy.
The Stampede communicates over digital inputs and outputs with press and reeler.
A loop sensor controls the strip transport speed.
